A mother-of-two has spoken of her fear as a car came hurtling through the glass towards her

“Literally all I saw was glass,” said receptionist and computer engineer Renaz Ameen.

“It was like a ripple effect. The glass was coming closer and closer - I felt like it was not going to stop. And I was just thinking, oh my God, that’s a bomb.

“I thought I was going to die.”

Miss Ameen had been manning Mr Dweeb Ltd’s PC repair shop on Park Road when a car smashed into the front window at 10.20am yesterday morning.

She dived over the counter, landing among boxes and hit her head on the back wall.

“I was crying my eyes out - I was shivering, shaking,” Miss Ameen said.

“I couldn’t feel my face, my collarbone felt bruised, caved in. My neck felt numb, my back was killing me on my right side and at the top of my spine.”

The 29-year-old was taken to the Whittington Hospital where she was diagnosed with whiplash.

Still in shock, she has been overwhelmed by the kindness and community spirit in Crouch End.

The first man in the shop to help her was from neighbouring shop Ginger and Mint.

Other residents and business owners crowded around, but they had to move away quickly as police warned of a gas leak and loose live wires.

“I didn’t realise what a tight community it was and how much people care about each other,” Miss Ameen said.

Essex resident Miss Ameen still hasn’t told her five and ten-year-old children what happened.

“I don’t know how to tell them,” she said. “I’m just happy I am alive.”
