A Hornsey woman has died after a fire ripped through her house in the middle of the afternoon.

Firefighters were called to the fire at a house converted into flats in Hawthorn Road on Saturday (April 2) at approximately 3.06pm.

The crews, from Hornsey and Holloway fire stations, carried the 51-year-old woman out of the property but she was pronounced dead at the scene.

The fire, which is under investigation but is not being treated as suspicious, was under control by 3.38pm.
