TODAY is decision day for Horsey Town Hall.

A planning meeting will take place at the Civic Centre in Wood Green tonight to decide if the redevelopment of the Crouch End building can take place.

Campaigners against the redevelopment say they will put up a strong fight at tonight's meeting and are urging anyone with similar feelings to come along.

Plans to convert the Grade II* listed Town Hall on Crouch End Broadway into a hub of "arts and enterprise" were submitted to Haringey Council in March.

They include a flexible performance space, room for everything from youth activities to a new bar or restaurant and 123 new residential properties.

The main income source to fund much of this will come from the plans to build 123 residential units - 35 one-bed flats, 61 two-bed flats, 20 three-bed flats, three four-bed flats and four four-bed houses - on the Town Hall car park, in the Broadway Annexe and Mews as well as the east wing and link block of the actual building.

The second phase - when funding is made available - will see the restoration of the council chamber wing, which can be used for formal gatherings.

Several residents have protested against the scheme, concerned about the effects on parking, overcrowding and the landscape of Crouch End.

The meeting takes place at 7pm tonight at the Civic Centre on Wood Green High Road.
