ACADEMY Award winning actress Charlize Theron visited Hampstead to answer questions on her latest flick.

The 33-year-old beauty joined director Guillermo Arriaga at Hampstead's Everyman cinema on Tuesday to offer lucky guests a sneak preview of their new film The Burning Plain.

The pair then stayed to answer questions on the film, which is the directing debut of Mr Arriaga - screen writer of acclaimed films Babel and 21 Grams.

The Hollywood actress, who is known for tackling gritty roles head-on, said she found her latest character - a woman tortured by a horrific past - "truly inspiring."

Joe Press, from east London, who was sitting in the audience, said the Hollywood actress was "very human and very, very tall"

"She didn't have a Hollywood persona at all," she said. "She slouched, and she seemed shy and not full of herself at all."

The Burning Plain will go on general release on March 13.
