Muswell Hill residents were somewhat alarmed to see images of the iconic TV mast being lifted from Alexandra Palace, the birthplace of television.
Hornsey resident Steve Wright posted the image with the somber words: “A sad sight. But the money raised from the sale of the iconic TV mast will be a great boost for local amenities.”
But everyone breathed a sigh of relief when it was revealed it was an April Fool’s prank.
Steve Wright, 59, a useability consultant with BT, spotted an opportunity when he saw cranes above Alexandra Palace last year, taking a photograph and then tinkering with Photoshop.
He described Alexandra Palace as a “landmark of my life.”
