A COSMETIC surgeon left a woman with 'dog-eared' skin after a botched and inappropriate face-lift operation in Highgate, a medical tribunal has ruled.

Armando Cason made an excessive cut and removed too much fat from Shirley Hills' neck during the 5,600 operation at his private Pountney Clinic at Highgate Hospital in 2006, the General Medical Council decided.

When Mrs Hills complained about her lumpy pleated skin, he told her to massage it away and later advised her to "be creative with make-up" to hide the scars, the hearing was told. Mrs Hills said she had "dog-eared" skin and was horrified with the results of her face-lift, which left her with a large blister and a scar.

She said: "It looked pulled and wonky. I thought I'd be swollen but I wasn't. I was just all out of shape. The blister looked nasty."

But Cason dismissed her concerns, pulled out pre-operation photographs and told her, "Well, you look better than you did before", the tribunal was told.

Mrs Hills said Cason had earlier given her "a small hand-mirror and stood behind me and pulled my skin back with his hands. It looked okay, he pulled everything up into place. He said he would expect a good result."

Cason, who is said to have featured in Tatler magazine's 1997 guide to the best cosmetic surgeons in the world, later emigrated to the US.

Yesterday, he was found guilty of eight charges in relation to the operation and his actions were found to be inappropriate, not in the best interests of the patient and below the standard expected of a plastic and cosmetic surgeon.

The GMC will now decide whether Cason's fitness to practise is impaired and whether his actions amounted to misconduct.
