The Highgate Society invited an influential audience to the launch of a series of walks aimed at enticing more visitors to experience the delights of Hampstead and Highgate.

The five routes, which are included in a booklet the society has produced, have been christened the ‘Northern Height Circuit’ and were devised by one of the group’s members, Richard Webber.

In a bid to gain support for the walks as a possible tourist attraction, the Society invited influential organisations to explain the potential of the project. They included movers and shakers from Camden Council, the City of London, English Heritage, Hampstead Garden Suburb Trust, Hornesy Historical Society and Waterlow Park.

Ham&High editor Geoff Martin, who chaired the event, said of the walks: “A lot of people have been involved in the planning, but it wouldn’t have come this far without Richard Webber’s dedication and vision. ”
