A summer celebration in Highgate, which organisers warned was under threat because of new bollards, is now set to go ahead after a u-turn.
The concrete barriers and a new gate in Pond Square had put June’s Fair In The Square in doubt, as the event team feared they would be unable to move equipment in.
But Camden Council has now said the offending obstacles – which cost nearly £1,000 to install – will be gone by the time the June 11 fair happens.
Veronica Day, who chairs the Fair in the Square organising committee, told the Ham&High: “It was a real shock when I saw them going up.
“I didn’t know how we were going to be able to do the fair.

“They (the council) did it without really thinking.
“I’m pleased that they want to get it sorted out.”

Councillor Meric Apak, the council’s cabinet member for sustainability and environment, said: “The costs incurred for the installation of the temporary gate and granite bollards was £990.
“The gate along with a number of the bollards are scheduled to be replaced later this month following engagement with local groups to find a long term solution to the parking problems at this location.”
This year’s fair will coincide with the Queen’s 90th birthday weekend, with the Royal landmark providing the theme for festivities.
It’s set to boast a range of activities, including circus skills workshops, a sheep show and Morris dancers, while the Pearly Kings and Queens will be appearing.
There will also be music performed at the stage in Pond Square.
As well as ensuring the fair can go ahead, organisers say Christmas celebrations have also been saved.
