A Highgate family centre offering breastfeeding support and children’s classes has won recognition for championing play.

Highgate Primary Family Centre, in Storey Road, was named as the first “play champion” by National Children’s Day UK, an initiative to celebrate children’s rights and freedoms.

The national day, to be next held in May 2015, recognises playgroups, children’s centres and schools where children have space and time to play.

Manager Katherine Nashnush said: “We are extremely proud to have been awarded as the first play champions and also for the recognition of our wonderful play sessions.

“We are dedicated to providing high quality services and play sessions for the under 5s.”
