A doctor is appealing for help in tracing a luxury watch given to his late grandfather after it was stolen in a burglary at his Highgate Village home.
Thieves plundered the home of the 44-year-old, who wishes to remain anonymous, while he was away on holiday.
Among several items stolen from his home was the gold-plated Omega watch, with a distinctive inscription on the back. Vintage Omega watches are often worth several hundred pounds.
The watch was given to the victim’s grandfather upon his retirement as an auctioneer in Scotland in 1971.
The inscription reads: “Presented to GG Lawsoin Esq on his retiral by staff and director Thomas Corson and Co Oban 10-12-71.”
The victim, who was given the watch aged 13, told the Ham&High: “It’s the things of sentimental value that are the hardest to lose. It was the only thing I have of my grandfather’s. I’ve looked after it for a long time and it’s such a shame that I no longer have it.
“I was devastated,” he added. “The watch was the one thing I did not want to go missing.”
