HIGH-flying sixth formers at La Swap sixth form were thrilled to receive a string of top A-level grades today.

Novlet Levy, 18, achieved two A*s and an A in English Literature, sociology and theology. She plans to study law at Queen Mary's and told the Ham&High : "I wasn't too worried about getting my results because I was well prepared for them.

"I'm very happy, over the moon. I couldn't be more satisfied."

Up to 97 per cent of A-level grades were A* to E at the sixth form consortium this year, which is made up of La Sainte Union, William Ellis, Acland Burghley, and Parliament Hill schools. In total, 73.8 per cent of the grades were A* to C.

Maureen Williams, headteacher of La Sainte Union in Highgate Road, said: "Congratulations to all the students. I'm very pleased with the more rigorous A2 and the very high levels of achievements at La Swap, where students achieved 60 A* grades."

Donna Galas, 18, who attended the Acland Burghley branch of La Swap, achieved two A*s and two As in English Literature, English Language, Psychology, and media and will read English language in the media at Lancaster University.

She told the Ham&High: "I'm very happy. I wasn't expecting to get A*s. I found my A-levels really hard but it's been enjoyable at the same time."

Bernadette Serrano, 19, of Mornington Crescent achieved an A* in psychology, and two As in maths and economics. She plans to read economics at Nottingham University and told the Ham&High: "I'm so happy. I was freaking out because I thought I got a B in economics. I looked on the UCAS website this morning and it said I'd been accepted at Nottingham and I was so relieved.
