Barnet Council marked Holocaust Memorial Day with a service themed ‘Don’t Stand By’.
The memorial service, held at Middlesex University on Sunday, had performances from London Cantorial Singers, Alyth Youth Choir and Barnet Wind Band,
A spokesman from Barnet Council said: “The theme asks us to consider our individual responsibilities not to be bystanders to hate crime and prejudice, or to international threats of genocide.”
During the memorial service, there were also speeches from Olivia Marks-Woldman, Chief Executive of the Holocaust Memorial Day Trust, and Joshua Castellino, Professor of Law at Middlesex University.
Mark Shooter, Mayor of Barnet, also spoke at the event. He said: “This year’s Holocaust Memorial Day service was once again a very poignant and thought provoking commemoration.
“It was moving to see so many people united in remembering all those who lost their lives in the Holocaust and in other genocides.”
