The 82-year-old Rosary Convent next door to the Rosary School in Haverstock Hill, Hampstead, destroyed by time bombs during the 1940 blitz, is being rebuilt. Most of the money is being provided by the War Damage Commission.

A royal visit is paid to Hampstead's 'little Denmark' by Princess Anne and Prince Georg of Denmark on the 50th anniversary of the Danish YWCA in Fellows Road.

To mark its 104th birthday, St Anne's, Highgate West Hill, launches a £1,000 appeal fund for the redecoration of the church.

Thirteen members of Hampstead Children's Cinema Council ask why science fiction films about landing on Mars and others plants are always peopled by villains, and why must the brave people who go up there act like monsters? "Why can't these films ever be about peaceful people?" asks the chairman.
