Victoria Derbyshire will help launch an outreach support centre at the Whittington hospital in Highgate tomorrow (Friday).
The presenter and broadcaster, who was diagnosed with cancer in 2015, will be cutting the ribbon at the event which has been created by Future Dreams, a breast cancer charity in partnership with Breast Cancer Haven. The charity have created a service which they hope will provide personal supportive therapy programmes to help patients deal with the physical and emotional side of breast cancer and its treatments.
‘Our aim is to provide an environment where service users feel welcomed, safe, calm and comfortable. Our centres are far removed from a clinic setting and we hope to minimise any barriers associated with being in a hospital,” said Pamela Healy OBE, chief executive of Breast Cancer Haven.
Spencer Leslie, Future Dreams trustee, said: “We are determined to ensure that this support is provided and are thrilled to have teamed up with Breast Cancer Haven to ensure its delivery.”
