Tottenham Hotspur football legend, Harry Kane, turned his hand to ironing, gardening and making tea to help a family from a north London children’s hospice.
Harry Kane visited Joseph McCallum, 13, who is cared for by Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospice.
Joseph and his two brothers, 11-year-old Nate and eight-year-old Fran, enjoyed an afternoon with the England striker at their home in Haringey.
The visit was in partnership with the hospice, which cares for children and their families, across Haringey, Camden and Barnet by supporting them day-to-day and take them on days out.
Harry Kane said: “It was clear to see the difference that can be made to a family just by helping out around the house and taking away the simple jobs many of us take for granted, like ironing and gardening.
“I would encourage anybody who has a bit of free time to give up an hour or so every week to volunteer for Noah’s Ark.”
Noah’s Ark are encouraging people to get involved in the charity through the many volunteer roles they have, in order to help with their “care at home” model.
A spokeswoman for the charity said: “Through the vital role of Family Support Volunteers, Noah’s Ark is able to provide nearly 8,000 hours of respite and support for families and siblings every year.
“Working alongside Noah’s Ark’s Jules Adams, Harry demonstrated the difference a volunteer can make to a family caring for a child like Joseph, taking away the burden of housework and spending time with football-mad Joseph and his brothers.”
Tottenham Hostpur announced an official charity partnership with Noah’s Ark last month and will be working with the charity for two years.
