Two North London eating disorder clinics will feature on a Louis Theroux anorexia documentary.
Parts of his documentary were filmed at Central and North West London NHS clinics at Brent’s Northwick Park, and Vincent Square in Westminster, as well as Barnet, Enfield and Haringey Mental Health Trust’s, St Ann’s hospital.
In the hour long documentary, ‘Talking to Anorexia’, Theroux embeds himself in the clinics, meeting women of all ages and at various stages of their illness, and staying with them through an enforced daily routine of scheduled eating, weigh-ins and group therapy.
The Trust’s Clinical Director for Eating Disorder Services, Dr Frances Connan, said: “Brave people showed Louis Theroux their Anorexia Nervosa and his film compassionately shows their struggles; what it’s like to live with this illness (for them and their families), and to engage in treatment and recovery.”
The documentary will air on BBC2 at 9pm on Sunday 29 October.
