The Highgate Care Home is tackling the epidemic of loneliness and isolation in elderly people with a hotly-anticipated tea dance this Saturday to celebrate Silver Sunday – a national event drawing attention to the needs of older people.
Carol Quinn, the home’s manager, said: “We know loneliness is a growing issue for older people.
“It’s great that we are in a position to support Silver Sunday by holding events at our care homes to offer older members of our community somewhere they can enjoy a fun activity in the company of others.
“I know our residents are looking forward to welcoming some new faces.”
Older members of the Highgate community are invited to head to the Highgate care home – on Hornsey Lane – from 2pm on Sunday where there will be social activities to encourage older people to get out, try new things and meet new people.
