Clinicians from the Whittington and Royal Free hospitals, including Baby P whistleblower Dr Kim Holt, have been voted among the most inspirational women in healthcare.
Whittington Hospital paediatrician Dr Holt, who warned about shortfalls at the clinic where Baby P was treated, is included in Health Service Journal’s top 50 inspirational list of women for 2013. She was recognised for her work with Patients First, a group of healthcare professionals who campaign to improve patient safety.
Consultant radiologist Dr Caroline Alum and rheumatology consultant Professor Jane Dacre are also included on the list, along with nurse consultant for community children’s nursing, Joan Myers.
The Royal Free Hospital’s deputy chief executive and director of finance, Caroline Clarke, was also recognised as the only finance director on the list and described by judges as “a woman known for her refreshing down-to-earth approach”.
All were chosen from nominations across the country.
