A children’s nurse has had her back yard transformed into a “paradise retreat” by TV gardener Alan Titchmarsh as reward for her tireless work at the Whittington Hospital.
Joan Myers was nominated by the Queen’s Nursing Institute (QNI) in recognition of her work in improving the way that children are cared for in the NHS.
She is also the founder of charity Rehoboth Children’s Home Ministry, which educates and feeds vulnerable or orphan children in Kenya.
Her garden in South Norwood was transformed into a “peaceful retreat”, leaving Ms Myers “truly humbled”.
She said: “I feel blessed to be chosen to have my garden made over.
“The garden looks fantastic, like paradise.”
Her story and the full makeover were broadcast on ITV show Love Your Garden last week.
