A gardening charity for young adults with learning difficulties has scooped a £50,000 lottery grant.

The Harington Scheme, in Cholmeley Park, Highgate, went head-to-head with three other community organisations on Wednesday for The People’s Millions funding.

It will use the money to transform a corner of Childs Hill Park, in Granville Road, Barnet, into an educational garden for children to use as an outdoor classroom.

It will be maintained by students on horticultural courses run by the Harington Scheme.
