Haringey Police have presented a local charity with a cheque for £2,500 after a gruelling mountaineering challenge.

Twenty-four officers from the borough’s Emergency Responce Team B completed the Three Peaks Challenge in September and racked up the £5,000 which was split between Mind in Haringey from Stroud Green, and the Police Dependants’ Trust.

Last week representatives from Mind in Haringey thanked the police for their support.

The charity’s business manager Deborah King said: “It was great to meet Inspector Kneale and the team yesterday. What a brilliant group of people!”

Inspector Victoria Kneale led the project. She said: “Everyone got tired and cold and didn’t sleep much, in addition to having aching legs, but the camaraderie that you could hear was second to none.

“We had PCs encouraging Sergeants, Sergeants encouraging PCs and PCs encouraging other PCs just to make sure that everyone got up those mountains.”
