Haringey Clincal Commissioning Group (CCG) has admitted an admin error left it at risk of legal action from a prominent human rights body.
The Equalities and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) wrote to the CCG in November 2017 telling it, and 42 others, its continuing healthcare policies were in breach of the Human Rights Act.
The CCG said it would change its policy, but a follow-up letter in March was ignored.
At the end of May, EHRC said: “Haringey CCG is the only organisation that has failed to share its policies with us. It was not one of the 13 that originally faced judicial review, but the lack of engagement now leaves Haringey open to further action.”
Haringey CCG has now formally apologised for the blunder.
“We take full responsibility for this administrative error and immediate steps have now been taken to ensure the revised policy is in place,” said a spokeswoman.
She added: “We have contacted the EHRC to formally apologise for our oversight and to confirm the policy is due to be published later in June and will be available on our website.”
