A charity for the elderly will receive an early Christmas gift after a festive market raised a healthy sum towards its work.
Age UK Camden is in line for a hefty donation from Hampstead Women’s Club, which recently staged its annual Christmas market in aid of the charity.
The cash is yet to be counted but the club is confident that the event beat last year’s total of £2,000.
Some 35 vendors set up stalls in Rosslyn Hill Unitarian Chapel in Pilgrim’s Lane, Hampstead.
Hampstead Women’s Club spokesman Shobha George, of Downside Crescent, Belsize Park, said: “There’s not enough money going around in these times for charity, so if you can help out, it’s always good.”
