Residents are gearing up to do battle with a telecoms company which wants to install an eight-metre phone mast in Hampstead.

Communications firm EE is appealing a Camden Council decision to refuse the installation of the mast in Redington Gardens. It will be the third time neighbours have mobilised against the plans.

Elizabeth Beckman, who has lived in the street for more than 50 years, said she felt “persecuted”.

“It would be literally within feet of my house and it would look terrible,” said the 77-year-old.

An independent planning inspector will review the decision but no date for a hearing has been set.
