A Hampstead entrepreneur has been recognised in the Queen’s birthday honours for his philanthropy and contribution to inter-faith relations across London.

Maurice Ostro, chairman of companies Ostro Minerals and Fayre Share Investments, has been awarded an OBE for his charitable endeavours.

Mr Ostro, who lives with his family in Hampstead, is founding patron of Faiths Forum for London and organised the Reclaiming London Together initiative alongside Mayor of London Boris Johnson, in the wake of the London riots.

Leonie Lewis, co-chairman of the charity, said: “I am delighted Maurice’s contribution has been recognised. It is a timely acknowledgement as Maurice is about to open a Faith and Enterprise Hub in Camden, which will house start-up social entrepreneurs and provide a space for developing charities and enterprises.”
