A community group has given £3,000 to Hampstead charities to support their work.
The Hampstead Heath Community – a group of businesses and residents based around South End Green – raised much of the money at the Hampstead Heath Community Festival in South End Green last July.
Icon Opticians, in South End Road, and Giacobazzi Delicatessen, in Fleet Road, also donated £500 each.
The money will be split between Keats Community Library in Keats Grove, the Royal Free Hospital’s Kidney Patients Association and The Anthony Nolan Trust, in Heathgate Place.
Amjad Butragueno, chairman of the community group and owner of Icon Opticians, said: “We are trying to help support local businesses and residents and support our local community by raising money for these three important charities.”
Cllr Chris Knight, of Hampstead Town ward, said: “This is the perfect combination of traders and residents getting together and supporting the community of South End Green.
“The festivals have been marvellous for local residents and now the proceeds are being fed back into worthy causes in the area.”
