A Hampstead church blessed a new Christian website in a ceremony thought to be the first of its kind.

Joining other churches around the country, the Rev Stephen Tucker used a Sunday service at St John-at-Hampstead to pray for ChoralEvensong.org – a website which directs parishioners to choral Evensong services across the UK and Ireland.

The church had a table with a laptop computer open on the website during the hour-long service.

The Deans of Westminster Abbey, Christ Church Cathedral in Dublin and St Mary’s Cathedral in Edinburgh also blessed the new website at the same time.

The website was created by the Hampstead Church Music Trust and Dr Guy Hayward, who also orchestrated the joint blessing.
