The end of the school year has come, but many parents and children have been left without the normal opportunity to say goodbye to the staff who have made such a big difference.
In what has been a difficult year for schools due to the coronavirus pandemic, teachers and fellow staff have gone above and beyond to do their best for children in extreme circumstances.
Many parents and pupils have taken this opportunity to send a message to say thank you – to key workers and staff brilliant at putting their child at ease during lockdown, or who helped with homeschooling and reassured them on their return to classes. And, in return, school staff wish their pupils good luck for the future.
To Year 11 and Year 13 pupils, St Aloysius’ College.
Year 11 and Year 13 2020 will go down in history books as the cohort whose GCSE’s and A-Levels were put on hold as the world paused.
It is disappointing for our students not to be able to sit their anticipated exams after their mass of work – we hope your hard work and commitment will be reflected in the outcomes awarded and we look forward to celebrating with you on results day in August.
Although your End of Year celebrations were abruptly cancelled, we hope to see you all at our annual Celebration of Success Evening in December. We wish you all the very best in your future endeavours.
We look forward to welcoming Year 11 leavers back to St Aloysius’ College Sixth Form, and wish Year 13 leavers the very best of luck in the next chapter of their education.

Thank you for everything you’ve done to support our child Peter, and family throughout the year and especially during lockdown. Weekly calls, video recorded assembly messages and Google Classroom helped keep our son from feeling so isolated and kept motivated in his home learning.
He was so happy to have been able to return for the final two weeks of the year. I know it was a huge logistical challenge but it was valuable for the kids to get that time with their teachers and friends. He so enjoyed his return to school he wished summer holiday wasn’t starting so soon. A child who wants more school and less summer break – imagine!

I am proud to have been your head of year.
I can recall the first day I met many of you in Year 7 with giant seaming blazers and oversized bags. And now many of you stand taller than me as young men ready for your next stage.
I hope you’ve all learnt something (maybe even from your mistakes along the way), grown as a people and built friendships and memories that will last a lifetime. I know that school isn’t always easy, for lots of different reasons, and some of you will have found it easier or harder than others. It is one of many great life journeys.
Go out and be the best that you can be.
