Arsenal remain top of the league after their fourth successive win gives them their best start to a campaign for 56 years.
Lauren put through his own goal as hosts Manchester City took a tenth minute lead before second half strikes from Sylvain Wiltord and Fredrik Ljungberg gave Arsenal the points.
Arsene Wenger was pleased with the win after his side's shaky start against a physical City side: "I thought City would play more technical football and that took us by surprise - but we lost too many fights during the opening 45 minutes. We weren't determined enough, but in the second half we were better.
