Spurs' defender Justin Edinburgh was sent off early on but his side hold out despite Ian Wright's frantic efforts to equal Gunners legend Cliff Bastin's club record of 178 goals.
"Would Wright ever score again?" smiled Arsene Wenger afterwards. "If you can say anyone will, it is him. It was not his day - like the rest of the team. We were not strong enough at set pieces, which was the only way we were going to win it.
