"We will help him to get fit and prepare for the season,'' Wenger said.
"He has 99 caps and I hope he will get 100, if not 100 then 120. At his age he needs to keep fit.''.
Meanwhile, the Gunners stayed top of the Premier League after William Gallas's 45th minute goal earned them a 1-0 win over Chelsea at Emirates.
Gallas said: "It was very important to win and take three points. Chelsea still want to win the Premier League and we're six points in front of them. It's important to win against a big team.
