Gunners can make United pay for missed chances, warns Wenger

Arsene Wenger believes Manchester United's inability to score a second goal has given Arsenal a great chance of reaching the Champions League final.

The Arsenal manager struggled to hide his disappointment at his side's limp display in their 1-0 defeat at Old Trafford on Wednesday night, but promised fans they will see a "different Arsenal" for Tuesday's second leg at Emirates.

"We didn't create enough. They played a very fast pace and stopped us getting into our stride" admitted Wenger, after seeing John O'Shea's first half goal separate the two sides at the halfway stage of the semi-final.

"But it's now time to stop talking about it, it's now more important for us to think about next Tuesday.

"United didn't get the second goal and that kept us in the tie. It's advantage United, but we have a good chance to reverse it at home."

United dominated possession but were kept at bay by Manuel Almunia, who made stunning saves from Cristiano Ronaldo, Wayne Rooney and Carlos Tevez. Ronaldo also hit the bar and Ryan Giggs had his effort chalked off for offside as United push for a killer second.

Arsenal have already beaten United at Emirates this season - 2-1 back in November - and Wenger remains positive, despite not getting a vital away goal..

"Almunia kept us in the tie and we want to take advantage of that," added Wenger.

"But it is very balanced. We still believe we will do it at home and you will see a different Arsenal next week.

"It will be a good opportunity to show our character and our mental strength.

"There's a final at stake... when you play at home knowing you can reach a final, you will be up for it. I am confident."

United manager Sir Alex Ferguson said he was pleased to keep a clean sheet.

"Before the game I said I wanted to win the game without losing a goal ... and we've done that," he said.

"The game is not over but we know we can go there and score and that is the problem Arsenal have."
