Green Party leader Natalie Bennett received an enthusiastic reception from pupils after criticising the so-called “exam factory”.
The parliamentary candidate for Holborn and St Pancras told a room of 350 students at Camden School for Girls in Sandall Road, Camden Town, that it was wrong to force pupils to sit “exam after exam” and compared some schools to “sausage factories”.
The message was received warmly by students at the school’s mixed sixth-form.
Ms Bennett, of Somers Town, also reminded pupils old enough to vote to sign up to the electoral register in time for the upcoming general election in May.
She said: “I got a very enthusiastic reception, it was great. I had a broad range of questions and a high level of engagement.”
