Green Party councillor Maya de Souza has hinted that she will throw her hat into the ring in the battle to become Hampstead and Kilburn’s next MP.
The Ham&High understands that Cllr de Souza will step down as Camden’s only Green councillor in May’s council elections having served two terms since May 2006.
The Highgate councillor remained tight-lipped about her future when contacted for a comment but did not rule out a parliamentary election bid in the 2015 general election.
She said: “I have not expressed an interest in standing for Hampstead and Kilburn but at this stage would not rule this out.”
Ms de Souza’s impending council departure is expected to be confirmed next Tuesday when Camden Green Party selects its candidates for May’s elections.
