A disabled resident celebrated a successful campaign for disabled access at a local branch of international coffee shop Starbucks.

Matthew Kayne, 31, who lives in Jewish Care’s Rela Goldhill Lodge, in Limes Avenue, Golders Green, visited Starbucks in Golders Green Road on Friday last week to check out the disabled access recently unveiled at the store.

Together with Finchley and Golders Green MP Mike Freer, Mr Kayne, who has cerebral palsy, has been campaigning for Golders Green to become more more accessible for wheelchair users such as himself.

He said: “I was very pleased that Starbucks made the door wheelchair accessible as it will enable me and other wheelchair users to enjoy Starbucks coffee without sitting outside in the cold.”

Mr Freer said: “Matthew Kayne is the driving force behind making local shops more accessible.”
