Girl with a Pearl Earring author Tracy Chevalier and Holborn and St Pancras MP Frank Dobson were the special guests at a literary quiz raising money for a Highgate library.
Teams of five were tested on their knowledge of poetry and prose by former Highgate Labour councillor John Carrier in aid of Highgate Library Civic and Cultural Centre in Croftdown Road on Tuesday night.
The Friends of Highgate Library, the group that runs the centre, hope to buy a new film and sound system.
After giving speeches, Mr Dobson joined the winning team while Ms Chevalier helped all the groups with the trickiest questions.
