Gardening and cabaret combined for a light-hearted evening of entertainment in Hampstead Garden Suburb.

About 50 residents filled Fellowship House, in Willifield Way, the Suburb, for a performance of A Peek Over the Privets on Sunday evening.

The combination of musical performance, readings and comedy sketches was devised by writer June Armstrong-Wright.

Singer Francoise Geller, of Hampstead Way, the Suburb, was responsible for the musical arrangements and direction, and there were also performances from couple Cindy and Bob Allenby, as well as singing group The Florettes.

The evening raised more than £500 for international medical aid charity Médecins Sans Frontières through ticket sales and a raffle.

Temple Fortune florist Moyses Stevens and Golders Green chemists Warman-Freed were among the local businesses that donated prizes for the raffle.

Ms Geller, who organised the evening, alongside fellow resident Gloria Moss, said: “It was about the quirky ways of gardeners. There were lots of jokes, some a little more daring than others!”
