ROCK legend Bob Dylan is coming to Chalk Farm to play an intimate gig to just 2,000 fans.

The 67-year-old songwriter has announced he will be playing at the Roundhouse on Sunday April 26.

This week he advertised the concert on his website, and within minutes of tickets going on sale via The Roundhouse site, 200,000 people from all over the world logged on to try to get their hands on them.

The star decided only the most committed of supporters should be allowed into the gig, with buyers having to get a password from his fansite to apply for them. Tickets have also been limited to two per person.

Security will also be tight on the night at the iconic venue. Ticket holders will be made to appear in person and fitted with wristbands earlier in the day, to ensure their entry can't be sold to touts.

The gig will be the smallest in the singer's current world tour and follows a night at London's O2 Arena.

But Dylan is no stranger to the borough of Camden. While making his first London performances in 1962, he slept on the floor of friends' houses on Haverstock Hill. And in 1993, the video of his song Blood in My Eyes featured Dylan walking around Camden Town next to the Roundhouse where he will play next month.

Simon Pitkeathley, chief executive of Camden Town Unlimited, a business group dedicated to promoting the area, said Dylan would be welcomed as a great coup for the area.

He said: "Bob Dylan is one of those artists who appeals to all age ranges, which is also true of Camden Town.

"My kids listen to Bob Dylan and so does my mum. A concert like this is great for the area - such an amazing man doing an intimate gig at such a historic venue is right for such a historic part of town."
