A HALLOWE'EN horror is set to hit Highgate tomorrow night with hundreds of teenagers descending on the village for a huge party.

The ghoulish gathering, due to kick off at Waterlow Park at 9pm, has been organised through social networking website Facebook. With more than 150 teenagers already signed up and dozens more likely to go, Highgate residents could be in for a fright night.

There are also concerns at Highgate Cemetery after messages were posted on another website threatening to break in and vandalise grave stones.

The invitation to the Waterlow party written by the organiser reads: "Basically. Halloween's one of the best holidays ever and if we could get everyone together to do something it'd be Sickkk. If any houses are available round Halloween that'd be great. If not though, everyone meet up like Waterlow or something in costumes and we can go down Highgate. Get booze or whatever."

Out of the 158 teenagers who have confirmed they will go, most are from nearby schools such as Channing and University College School which are on half term. And with the young revellers hoping to move to a house party, homeowners in Highgate will be on guard.

Earlier this year a £4million mansion in Spain was destroyed by teenagers who had been invited to a party via Facebook. Scores of uninvited guests arrived and caused mayhem.

Camden Council has warned that anyone trying to break into the park, which closes at dusk, will face arrest.

Bosses at historic Highgate Cemetery next to Waterlow Park are already cautious after online threats were made to spray happy faces on the graves. Simon Moore-Martin, who manages the site, said his security staff will keep out unwanted visitors.

"We have had these things before. It is a pain in the neck," he said. "It's an historic site and we have a duty of care. We don't want grave owners to have any extra distress or grief.

"The Waterlow party is a worry and our cemetery attracts people on Hallowe'en. We normally get a few brave souls coming in when they have had a few beers but when they are confronted by my guys, they wet themselves and don't come back."

Police have planned a massive operation across the borough to prevent any outbreak of trouble over the weekend. All 18 Safer Neighbourhoods Teams will be on duty until the early hours of Saturday to prevent outbreaks of trouble. Unmarked robbery cars will also patrol the borough, along with the Met's dog unit.

A police spokeswoman said: "We are aware that a party is planned at Waterlow Park and will police it accordingly. Anyone attending may be subject to stop-and-search.
