BILL Fuller, a pioneer of Camden Town's world famous music scene, has died aged 91.
In the 1930s, Mr Fuller created popular dance hall The Carousel in Camden High Street - now the Electric Ballroom.
The club became a popular haunt of young people from Mr Fuller's native Ireland.
As the Electric Ballroom, it began to host live rock acts, leading the way for Camden Town's burgeoning music scene. Among the stars to grace its stage have been Paul McCartney, the Clash and the Smiths.
Henry Conlon, manager of the Dublin Castle in Parkway, Camden Town, said: "This guy was legendary. He was a pioneer for promoting live music. There is so much great history with that venue. He had all the major bands there and playing there proved to be a huge stepping stone for them."
A memorial service was held in Las Vegas on Monday, where Mr Fuller had lived since the 1960s. He is survived by children Stephen, Sean, Mary, Jane, Terry and Kate, who now runs the Electric Ballroom.
