Former BBC war correspondent and MP Martin Bell continued the ongoing tradition of opening the annual Combat Stress Winter Fair.

Mr Bell cut the ribbon to open this year’s fair, which ran between 11am and 4pm on November 1 at the Free Church Hall, in Northway, Hampstead Garden Suburb.

The annual fair, including stalls selling jewellery, crafts, homemade cakes, collectables and Christmas cards, raises money for veterans’ mental health charity Combat Stress.

This year, the festival raised around £4,000 for Combat Stress.

Marjorie Harris, one of the organisers, said: “It went extremely well. The weather was beautiful so we had 100 more people than last year – about 300 attended.”
