Actor Robert Powell donated £2,500 to Marie Curie Hospice in Hampstead before opening its Winter Fair on Saturday.
The 69-year-old star, famed for his role in BBC One drama Holby City, donated the impressive amount to the hospice, in Lyndhurst Gardens, in recognition of the care it has provided several of his friends.
The annual fundraising Winter Fair on Saturday included a pop-up art gallery selling specially-donated paintings by local artists.
All of the proceeds from the fair will go directly to the hospice, which costs £4million a year to run, with an hour of nursing care costing £20.
Natasha Evans, hospice fundraising manager, said: “We had a great turnout from local residents and neighbours, so we’re thrilled that our local community has supported us so much.”
