Developers have released the first image of plans for new flats solely for older people on the site of Arthur West House in Hampstead.

PegasusLife hopes to re-invent the building in Fitzjohn’s Avenue as retirement housing for the over 60s.

The old building will be demolished and 41 apartments built in its place, subject to planning approval.

Richard Mortimer, development manager of PegasusLife, said: “Currently retirement options are limited in Camden.

“This is an important, and at times ignored, sector where this type of housing is required for our ageing population.”
