Boutique cinema chain Everyman is to open a new three-screen branch in King’s Cross.
The venue will be the area’s first cinema and is set to open in March 2017 in the 67-acre King’s Cross estate. The cinema was granted planning permission by Camden Council in April but developer King’s Cross Central Limited Partnership has this week agreed a deal to lease 9,000 sq ft of space to the Everyman group in the R7 office building in Handyside Street.
Crispin Lilly, CEO at Everyman, said: “Our aim is to create a truly memorable experience that exceeds expectations and reaches the highest standards possible in comfort and entertainment. We’re very excited about our next project at King’s Cross and look forward to being part of this emerging and exciting part of London.”
In 2013, Everyman set up a pop-up cinema at the King’s Cross Filling Station but this will be their first permanent venture in the area. Will Colthorpe, of developer Argent King’s Cross Limited Partnership, added: “We’re sure the area’s eventual 40,000 new residents and business people, and of course everyone already in the area, will enjoy using it.”
