Nearly 1,500 watched a dazzling firework display run by parents of pupils at an independent Highate school on Saturday.
Fire jugglers and live music entertained the crowds before the half-hour display at 7.15pm in the playing fields of Channing School in Stanhope Gardens, Stanhope Road. Year 10 pupils, aged 14 and 15, sold charity wristbands, with the proceeds going towards the school’s Capital Challenge. It aims to raise £3million towards an £11million project to build a sports hall and performing arts centre.
Each family had a number of free tickets to the event, run by parents’ group the Channing Association, with additional £17 tickets also on offer.
Headteacher Barbara Elliott said: “The Channing Association works exceptionally hard and the fireworks party is just one of the many superb events organised every year.
“I am always impressed by the quality and popularity of every function, and am delighted that we have such a supportive parent body.”
