A FIRE has broken out in a shop in Stroud Green and up to 30 officers are currently trying to extinguish the blaze.
Six fire engines attended the shop, which is understood to be a pound store, in Stroud Green Road, at 11.36am today. A number of people have been evacuated from the flats above.
A spokesman for the London Fire Brigade said: "The fire brigade was called at 11.36am. Around a quarter of building's ground floor is alight."
Film director Simon Peters, 62, of Lorne Road, said: "It was quite spectacular when smoke started coming out of the shop and a crowd soon gathered.
"The fire was in the back of the shop so I couldn't see any flames but there was a tremendous amount of smoke billowing out of the front."
