An event remembering murdered MP Jo Cox and celebrating people from different cultures takes place at a Jewish community centre this weekend.

JW3 in Finchley Road will be taking part in the nationwide celebration hosting its own Great Get Together with Hampstead and Kilburn MP Tulip Siddiq due to share her memories of her parliamentary colleague.

The Duchess of Kent is also expected along with members of the public who share the belief that people have more in common than what divides them.

Chief executive of JW3 Raymond Simonson said: “We are honoured that HRH the Duchess of Kent and our local MP Tulip Siddiq will be joining us for this very special event, on a day in which we are bringing people together from around the community, across cultural divides, inspired by the late Jo Cox’s message of more in common, which now, sadly seems more important to stress than ever.”

The venue’s involvement in the day comes as a result of 15-year-old Ruby Levy who took part in JW3’s “Open Door” programme, an interfaith initiative bringing together a group of Jewish and Muslim teenage women from three different secondary schools.

The free event starts at 10am this Sunday. Visit JW3 for more details.
