Festive turkey fat blocks drains

Londoners are expected to pour 500 tonnes of turkey fat down their drains this Christmas leading to unpleasant blockages, Thames Water warns.

The festive period will see an estimated 25% more fat, oil and grease poured down the drains.

When fat is poured down the sink it quickly cools in the sewer before solidifying and causing blockages.
