A father had to put a price on thousands of pictures and videos of his baby daughter when his MacBook was stolen from a caf in Marylebone.

Simeon Adams, who works for a media agency was having a meeting at a caf in Picton Place when a thief stole his personal computer from under the table and with it thousands of photographs of his three-year-old daughter, Daisy.

“At first I ran around in a panic looking for the computer,” said Mr Adams. “It wasn’t about the material possession.

“It was a horrible feeling as it dawned on me that those photos were gone forever.

“A big chunk of my family history had been lost.”

The distraught father put a desperate plea out on social networking site Twitter offering a 5,000 reward for the safe return of the computer, which was stolen on July 20, describing it as containing “four years of irreplaceable pics & vids”.

Sympathy tweets and advice poured in from as far away as Australia and his reward notice was retweeted more than 4,000 times.

One kind user even offered to lend the upset father a spare Mac computer until he found a replacement.

“It was heart-warming concern,” said Mr Adams, who was stunned at the outpouring from complete strangers.

“I couldn’t quite work out what was the causing the response.

“I didn’t know whether it was Mac loyalists or people shocked at having lost so many photos.

“That weekend I would have definitely followed through with the reward,” said Mr Adams.

Through a mad scramble, he has managed to piece together some of the lost four years of photographs between his wife’s iPhone and his new iPod, which, luckily was in a different bag.

“I’ve had to retract the reward now because I did retrieve some of the information, but it’s still being retweeted and retweeted,” he said.
