A WOMAN has died after a fatal car crash in Fortune Green.

Police are appealing for witnesses following the collision on Fortune Green Road when the car collided with a tree.

They were called at approximately 3.10am on Sunday to reports of a silver Lexus which had crashed into a tree.

Officers and paramedics attended and found two people in the vehicle. A 55-year-old woman, believed to be the driver, was pronounced dead at the scene just after 4am.

Police are awaiting formal identification and her next of kin have been informed.

A second woman was taken to an east London hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
